The goal of the Massachusetts Badminton Association (MassBadminton) is to promote and develop badminton awareness and competition for players of all levels in the Bay State. In addition, MassBadminton represents the interests of Massachusetts to the Northeast Badminton Association, the organization designated by USA Badminton for the District of Columbia and the 12 states of Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont and Virginia.

Since 2005, MassBadminton has facilitated the badminton addition and competition in the Bay State Games.
Schools across Massachusetts have been keen to adopt badminton into their after-school club offerings or physical education programs. MassBadminton supports the growth of badminton in the schools.
The Boston Junior Open is one of the most important activites of MassBadminton. At times, it has been the USAB Junior Tournament for the Northeast region (2015- Junior International Trials, 2019- Open Regional Championship, Closed Regional Championship, 2022-Open Local Championship).
